Les Schmidt shares his story

The Truth,
Finding Your Own Truth

Join Les as he takes us into his real world journey to today.

Raised by loving parents in a faith-healing church, Les was torn by the desire to be a good husband, father and church member, and the driving need to experience life in all its fullness.

He pursued money and freedom with a vengeance, made outrageous choices that led to catastrophic situations that seemed impossible to overcome. In the darkest hour at the lowest point, he found seven reasons to make a life-changing decision to become his personal best.

As you read this real life example of how one man broke away from the traps parents, teachers, society and religion impose, you will learn how it is never too late to overcome bad choices and create the life you aspire to.

Experience the journey of a man who escapes the psychological grip of a cult-like church, whose pastor’s control through guilt and fear of Hell, and boldly claim to possess “The Truth.” In this book, you will join Les as he relentlessly pursues the truth and what he found.

The Truth leads you on an adventure of romance, sex, relationships, drugs, love and betrayal, and through the extreme highs and devastating lows of an exceptional life, and even serves as a self-help manual crafted into an engaging story.

Reading Les' story is like receiving a punch in the gut that you know you need. I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Les before I read the book. If I were to judge him by where he is now, I would have never imagined the journey he took to get there. Once you read the book, you see how appropriate the title is. The Apostle Paul taught the Philippians to work out their own salvation in fear and trembling (which I translate as humility) and ultimately that is exactly what Les did. As I was reading I felt myself begging Les to make different choices despite knowing that this was an autobiographical work. Knowing where his life story is now, I kept hoping that certain "tough lessons" that he learned in his life would be the turning point that would lead him toward what I think is "The Truth", but the fact is that people must find the Truth in their own particular way because each person is particular.

In the book of Hebrews, the writer refers to a message from God to the Israelites that "None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, `Know the Lord,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. In his book, Les is not telling anyone how to know God i.e. Truth but showing through the witness of his own life that the Truth is everywhere when we open our eyes. The truth that Les discovered in his life is not "Truth in a Box". It is a liberating awareness that we are active creators in our own experience. For Les to experience this directly, he needed to break free from religious confines and step out in faith that that fire in his soul, that promised him there was more to life than what his particular faith tradition could offer, him would ultimately be the light that guided him to the full expression of his potential.

Along his journey, Les fell down many times. He fell to places that many of us would have never gotten up from. He holds nothing back as he reveals the tumultuous path he took to consciousness. And that is the greatest gift of his book. Most of us know what it is like to desire more for ourselves than what those around us can imagine. We know what it feels like to want to "go for it". But very few of us know what it is like to try and fail. Most of us don't try because we fear failing. Les isn't one of those people. And even though he made some decisions that I would have never made, he showed me what happens when one never gives up on the belief that they can achieve their potential. But more than that--he makes it impossible for any of us to hold on to our excuses. That's the job of light bearers and that is what Les is.

“Instead of finishing up for my Slovenia trip…I found myself reading for 2 more hours…I could not stop.

I believe this book has sooooo many lessons and goes to the core of so many life issues that it is way beyond the truth or a cult. Your writing is engaging and made me laugh and made me cry and touched my heart.”

"I just finished Les' "The Truth".  I read it in two days, mostly because once I started I couldn't put it down!  I've known Les for at least twelve years, or I thought that I did.  What a life; romance, adventure, intrigue, and tragedy!  I have always known Les to be a passionate person and this is a story of a man whose passion and desire to experience life leads him to make decisions that will ultimately haunt him.  Fortunately, through some hard lessons and amazing experiences, Les makes good for his children and has worked unbelievably hard to put his life back on track!  Les' background makes him an intriguing motivational speaker and human resource consultant.  It is an amazing story and an easy read, so why not start reading it now!
